Case Study

Organisation design

Business need

Our client is a large retailer based in East Africa. The company had grown from a family-owned entity into a very large local brand. The growth required the client to relook core HR disciplines and processes, including designing a new organisation structure to enable delivery.

Solution

  • Our project approach consisted of two phases: organisation design, and job evaluation.
  • During the organisation design phase, we engaged with several leaders and teams to understand the current structure and the limitations inherent in the structure.
  • The project focused on central functions and the “ideal store”.
  • The central functions and ideal store structure were designed at a macro level.
  • In the next phase, the structure was designed at a micro level, including a view of the number of employees needed per role.

Impact

Through the project, we were able to identify several opportunities for improving structure, governance, and business processes. The client was able to approve and sign off a new structure that enabled rapid growth and a higher level of governance.

OUR FOCUS IS TO DELIVER CONSULTING AND PRODUCT SOLUTIONS ACROSS THE AFRICAN CONTINENT.
